Make a Choice.

In our pursuit of greater success (however we choose to personally define it), we tend to fixate solely on the external manifestations of progress and achievement. We often limit our measurements to the tangible outcomes of our actions—the what. Naturally, this is important, but, it is also foolish to overlook a fundamental truth: Who we are being is equally, if not more, crucial to the overall equation. Our essence—the amalgamation of our values, character, and intentions—profoundly influences the quality and impact of our actions. We must recognize that the essence of our being shapes the way that we do what we do. Consciously choosing who we want to be each day is a potent force for personal growth, social transformation, and greater success.

Take a simple act of kindness, for example. Offering a warm smile to a stranger or extending a helping hand to someone in need may seem inconsequential in the grand scheme of things unless we pause to contemplate the essence behind the gesture and its true significance. Kindness is the embodiment of who we are being in that moment—the manifestation of our innate goodness and humanity. That act of authentic kindness is the manifestation of our innate goodness and humanity; it is a choice that is aligned with our core values.

Our essence of being—who we choose to be—exerts a profound influence on how we navigate challenges and setbacks. When we are faced with adversity, it is not solely our skills or intellect that will sustain us. The qualities that define who we are being—resilience, perseverance, and inner fortitude—are integral to the outcome. We will all encounter numerous failures on our paths to success. From the outside looking in, our achievements may be attributed only to our sheer determination and talent, but it is our character that propels us forward and enables us to transcend seemingly insurmountable obstacles. When we choose to have an unwavering belief in ourselves, resilience in the face of setbacks, and a commitment to our vision, we are choosing who we are going to be as we continue to move forward.

The essence of our being reverberates across the tapestry of our relationships. How we choose to show up in our interactions with others—as a friend, partner, colleague, or neighbor—profoundly shapes the dynamics of our connections and understanding. When we consciously prioritize who we are being in our interactions, we cultivate deeper connections rooted in genuine empathy and understanding. When we neglect the essence of our being, it leads to superficial exchanges devoid of authenticity and depth, eliminating the opportunity for deep trust and connection.

Our choices in this regard extend beyond our individual relationships; who we are being as citizens significantly influences the trajectory of our communities and the world at large. When we collectively embody conscious choices that align with our values, we pave the way for a more just, compassionate, sustainable world. In contrast, when we neglect to choose who we want to be, we are subject to living in reaction to whatever arises; often, this undermines our intentions.

We have the power to transform and energize our potential by consciously choosing who we want to be on a daily basis. We can elevate our actions from mere transactions to profound expressions of our values, aspirations, and highest potential. Choosing who we are being serves as a compass, guiding us toward a life of clear purpose, fulfillment, and significance.

Success or sabotage? Embrace the power of being and let it illuminate the path ahead, guiding you toward a life of purpose, authenticity, profound connections, and greater success.

Is this going to be an incredible day? Each day presents a new canvas upon which to paint the masterpiece of our being—a reflection of our values, intentions, and aspirations.
