Notice your Judgment.

There is a dark side to the power that is the individual. We are taught to appreciate our uniqueness--the whole of our being--as we are raised to walk in a world that may appear to be virtually uncaring. In order to define our "self," we begin an insidious comparison to others, noting what we are that they are not (or vice versa).  We begin to separate ourselves from the pack to develop a sense of individualism. This necessary human process is validated and compounded by our parents, teachers, coaches, etc. It becomes the reasoning that fuels competition. Invariably, it is easy for one to fall into the trap of battling personal insecurities by elevating ourselves above those whom we define as "less than" us.

As a result of this paradigm that we have created, we walk in the world with a sense of "I am OK, what's wrong with you?" This syndrome feeds our false sense of identity and self-worth and makes us judge, jury and executioner in our lives as well as the lives of all of those around us. This subtle pattern of human behavior is the life force behind bias, discrimination, and disconnection. If we are unable to return to the "whole" (the human race), compassion for others is fleeting and ineffective.

Today, notice your voice of judgment. How often do you hear the critical voice mocking your actions or the actions of those around you? At the moment that you catch it, step back and look at this person or people as you and notice how they might mirror your own fears or behaviors.

Success or sabotage? A false lens or vision will not serve you in your journey toward greater success.
