Become more Mindful.

There is a collective consciousness that is reflected in the condition of our world. When we engage fear, hate, anger or love, it manifests in our outer world. We are co-creators of our experience and the experience that we are creating affects (positively or negatively) others in the world around us. We are all spiritually connected, so it is impossible for us to refrain from participating in the creation of the collective consciousness.

Even if one is to reject the metaphysical foundation of this concept, it is logical that our actions create a ripple in the world. If we take an UBER and are rude to the driver and fail to tip her properly, the chances are high that the negative energy of that experience will be carried over to the next ride. In turn, the next passenger may transfer the “residue” of their negative experience with the now angry driver into their interactions with the next person. And so on and so on….No matter how we choose to categorize it, we can all agree that none of us live in a vacuum. There is a domino effect that results from our interactions with the world. Therefore, if we want more peace and love in the world, we must begin to become more mindful of our thoughts, feelings, actions and interactions. We are the cause and our life experience is the effect.

This is not to suggest that feelings of rage and anger are not justified. There is a lot going on in the world that is worthy of our anger. Sometimes that anger is necessary to inspire necessary change. It is not a judgment of our emotions; it is simply managing our thoughts/emotions rather than allowing them to manage us. We may either continue to respond unconsciously (almost as a reflex action) or we can begin to process our emotions and direct them effectively and responsibly. It is not always an easy task.

The next time that you begin to have negative thoughts or feelings, stop and take a deep breath. What is the source of these thoughts/feelings? What is it that you are feeling specifically? How will you use that negative inclination effectively? You may either use it as an inspiration for an action focused on a specific solution or as a reminder of what you would rather feel instead. “I don’t want to feel angry, so I am going to choose peace.” Then, you take the actions that are required to create more peace at that moment.

Success or sabotage? If we wish to achieve greater success, we must have a clear definition of what it is,what it looks like, and a heightened awareness of how our thoughts, words and actions are contributing to or sabotaging it.

Is this going to be an incredible day? A day is neither good or bad, so the verdict is always within your grasp. You have the power to make it so should you choose to utilize it.
