Allow the Story.

When I look back on my (earlier) life as an actor, I wonder what happened to “him.” There were moments (albeit, rare) when I felt deeply connected to something unseen by most of the audience—a connection to all things that, at the time, was overwhelming. I was not in a place where I could handle it without risking emotional damage. It seems like another incarnation, and yet, I still have experiences where I am uncomfortable with my place in the world. I simply wish to hide.

The world often seems too perfect for my small presence. I am flawed, damaged, scarred and living below my own potential. How could I possibly deserve to be in the presence of all of the brilliance that exists around me? It is at those moments that I must breathe, deeply. I must remind myself that I AM HERE, not in error, but by plan. I have been given the honor of a front row seat to a world that will never cease to surprise me. I am also blessed from time to time, with some roles to play that in some way help small parts of the story of the world to move effectively forward. I don’t have the script, but can live happily with the "“improv” if I allow myself to simply let go and refrain from trying to control the ending.

In the theatre, they say, “there are no small parts, only small actors.” It is also true in life. There are no small parts, but we all have a role to play. In those dark moments when you are feeling small, remember that (even though it may not be visible to your eye) your part is important to the greater story.

Success or sabotage? Success is written into your role if you will simply allow the story to unfold. Sometimes, you simply must breathe and take it all in. Relax. The story will tell itself.

Is this going to be an incredible day? Look around you. Pay attention. With all of the possibility that surrounds you, how could it be anything but incredible?
